Col. Dwight C. Sones is the Vice Commander, 436th Airlift Wing, Dover Air Force Base, Del. As vice commander, he serves as assistant to the commander for leadership in the combined C-5 and C-17 wing providing worldwide movement of high priority personnel and cargo. Dover AFB is the home to the Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations Center, the Department of Defense"s largest aerial port, the Air Mobility Command Museum and a National Environmental Test Site.

Colonel Sones received his commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Pennsylvania State University. His background includes experience in strategic airlift, tactical airlift and aerial refueling missions. He has served on numerous operational assignments and staff positions at the Joint and Major Command level. Colonel Sones is a command pilot with more than 3,300 flying hours and has participated in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Provide Relief, Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom.
